An attachable hood kit is now available for the M-48 MOD-1 modular full face mask. The hood is attached to the mask with brackets and screws. A short rear zipper and earphone pockets are standard. The hood is made out of 5 mm YAMAMOTO neoprene. Their patented Super Composite skin has nylon fabric on the outside and Yamamoto’s proprietary smooth coating on the inside. This feels like baby powder when dry, and is slippery when wet, the hood is easy to get on and doesn’t trap body oils like nylon fabric. This material also has outstanding heat retention while retaining its superior flexibility and comfort.

If divers considers themselves to have a below average size head, they should go with S/M. If they think they have an above average head, then they should go with the L/XL. For those that are in the middle, it would depend on how snug they want the hood to fit, but both sizes would probably work for them.
